The top steps for planning a Big Birthday Bash

The top steps for planning a Big Birthday Bash

22 February 2018

Big birthday bash!

If you’re planning a big birthday celebration for a loved one, we know it can begin to take over your every waking moment. So whether it’s a 21st, 40th, 60th or 90th here are some pointers to help get you started, and keep the stress levels down.

Select a venue

Choose a venue which can easily cater for your requirements, whether that’s easy access for older members who are helping celebrate, parking for those that are travelling from afar, or even overnight accommodation for guests to make a weekend of it.

It may be tempting to host the party at home, but a dedicated venue ensures there’s space for all, everyone has a good time (as host you can enjoy the celebrations too), as there’s no need to worry about serving drinks, food, or even clearing up! Let someone else do the work, so you can focus on ensuring the birthday ‘boy’ or ‘girl’ has a great time.

Food choices

Discuss your food preferences with your venue. Do you want a sit down meal, buffet menu, or a finger buffet during an evening celebration? Ensure your venue is able to assist with any specific dietary requirements some your guests may have.

Themed or casual?

What would the person who is celebrating prefer; a themed event, or a more informal get together? Whether it’s a 60s or 70s theme, favourite films, or even fancy dress, a theme can make a party go with a real swing. If you’re catering for a 90th, then it may be a relaxed informal casual dress event.

Keep track of guest numbers

Write a guest list to help you focus on the number of guests you can expect to join in with the celebrations. It’s important to keep track of replies too! You may want to theme your invitations to match the party theme, go retro with postal invitations, or if your guests are younger you may even set up a social media event page, to monitor numbers.

Ensure your guests reply in plenty of time for you to confirm final guest numbers to your chosen venue. That way, there’ll be enough food for everyone.
